"Postcards From No Man's Land" by Aidan Chambers

Postcards From No Man's Land by Aidan Chambers

This was quite possibly the best book I have ever read. Postcards is a huge melting pot of culture and belief. It is about a teenage backpacker named Jacob Todd who visits Amsterdam to see a dying family friend and honor his long-dead grandfather. The text is split between a 3rd person narration of Jacob Todd's encounters in the Netherlands, and 19 year-old Oosterbeek native, Geetrui, narrating her own World War II story. It a shocking twist, everything Jacob Todd thinks he knows about friends, family, sex, spirituality, and life unfold in unfamiliar ways and show him that everything is not as it seems.

Please, please read this. It has something for everyone: romance, adventure, mystery, humor, religion, tragedy... you name it.

Thanks :)
